Title: squeaky wiper
Post by: dbdb on 24 March 2013, 00:25:42
N/s wiper squeaks seems to be at the spindle (squeaks when the wiper is lifted too).  I've try squirting oil and grease at it, still squeaking. Never had it before in 260K miles in migs is it a known problem?

Ive just had the same...

From the car we were convinced it was the driver side mech...
It wasnt, get some lube on all the wiper mech joins underneath.

Was easy for me as the scuttle was off for replacement anyway.

thanks very much thats the difference between an GM and a OQ and what the forum is for and what it isn't. Agreed this one isn't but I'm only a JM.

Oil might overcome this for a while but eventually you have to replace the whole linkage.

Best to remove the linkage arms and put a blob of silicon grease into the ball-joint cups and try to work some into the spindles.

Often easier to remove the entire mechanism, it's only held in with a few 8mm bolts but the one under the passenger arm spindle needs you to run the motor for a second so that the linkage is not blocking access.  You'll need a 6" 3/8 socket extension bar to reach that bolt.

Ask the question you want answered mate - I answered the question you asked (which you had already answered).

Sorry if this upset you, but on your previous posts where you asked for help, you just ignored the help other, more experienced, OOFers gave. Hence the (http://www.dbug.co.uk/smile/banghead.gif)  ;)

He rarely does actually. Just a load of pointless lip, while chasing his latest pet hate around the forum. Ignore him. ;)
