Title: advice on uprated parts
Post by: grannon_mv6 on 24 March 2013, 04:00:33
Hi people, i have a f/l 2.6 mv6 with 150k on the clocks. She has a few car park war wounds but is still in good nic.
The car is standard in everyway but after 11 years i think the car could benfit from benfits in technology. What i want to upgrade is things you wont see, i heard of 4xg cams but not 100% what you get from them. Also can we get full stainless exhaust system inc manifolds? Im not sure if i want coilovers or just uprated shocks and springs. What else is about?

Bilstien B4 or B6 shocks / Eibach springs do a good job of sharpening up the handling without breaking your back.

As for cams, just drop a set of 3ltr cams in there with the manifolds and sandwich plate.
I'm stripping a 3ltr engine down at the moment.  :)
Give us a shout if you want to go down that route  :y

You will end up getting the "emissions light" on sooner or later.
Maybe you could kill 2 birds with one stone and fit a pair of 3ltr cats (with a extra lambda sensor boss welded in to cure the emissions light problem).
Looking at them, they may flow better  :y

Stainless steel exhausts can be custom made.  Iirc there is a few lads on here who have done that.

regarding the cams, the Vectra GSi used 4 "G" cams and made 195 BHP, so the theory is that putting these in an Omega 2.5 would do the same.

No-one can prove this with a dyno plot, so I'd very much doubt that its repeatable. They may give you 5 horsepower or so.

They are a an excellent combination in my opinion.  :y
