Title: Replacing Rear 1/4 Glass - job done
Post by: SIR Philbutt on 01 April 2013, 12:54:16
Decided to have a go at doing this with the glass from my, now, donor car (x reg) which has sat on the drive for a year

Not as difficult as you might think. Here's how I did it

Door card off
Remove two of door card screw plates
Gently remove the plastic cover
Pull back the outer door rubber
Lower the window and remove the runner bar (hint from taxi al in here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=112514.0) )
The original window is part of the rubber seal, so removed the lot

On the donor car to remove the window intact, I gently prised out the rubber seal from the inside of the door. Starting on the lock side at the bottom and around to the top. This did damage the paint on the door so protect it if required.

To fit I placed the glass into the opening and used the same "prising" method used to remove from donor to get the rubber to re-seat in the the door frame. I tapped it home with a small hammer (just like fitting PVC window beads if you've done it)

Refitted the runner, rubber's & card.

All in all took 2hr's including removing from donor not bad really.

HTH
Phil
