I would like to arrange a weekend away for the good lady and myself, between Fri 3rd and Sun 5th May, so 2 nights somewhere.
Travelling from Gloucestershire, and would prefer not to spend much more than 2 hours on the road ideally - or three on a train. (Travel by train would be preferable).
Just want to spend some quality time together doing things couples should do.
Any suggestions? I seem to be stuck for ideas :-[

The Cotswolds are on your doorstep. Ideal :y

Or you could goto Western Super Mud.......and spend hours wondering why the tide is never in ::) ;D

It's a lovely old pub with good ale and food and would we go again :y

At the speed you drive, Miss Daisy, would 2hrs get you to another county :P
That said, plenty on your doorstep if you just want to go for walks etc. If you plan to just stay inside, you may as well go to the nearest hotel/spa/whatever floats your boat.

I'm starting to think train to a seafront in Devon... cinema, some rubbish entertainment, just somewhere different!
Just about to check Pete's link too :y

From the Gloucester area, Torquay area can't be more than 2-2.5hrs if traffic free (at legal speeds). Take the car.

You'll need a car for this place unless Clarkson will lend you one of his, he's just around the corner apparently

That deal site that LD got his mattress from appeared to have some good weekend deals. :)
Might be worth checking out? ;)

If you travel at night that would be easily achievable ..............allegedly. :-X ;) ;)
Both Torquay and Paignton have railway stations and the Ferry boats are useful for getting from one town to another. :y

Paignton or Brixham are nice or Ilfracombe.
Go along the M4 and see the Seths and take in Swansea.
A weekend in Birmingham or Stratford.
To be spoilt for a weekend (not cheap) go to a Warners Hotel(adults only) http://www.warnerleisurehotels.co.uk

What about Poole.....lots of options of things to do. Not to far from you. Big cinema at the Tower leisure park, with loads of different eating places (pizza, Frankie and Benny's, Mexican, etc.) Close to Bournemouth, Swanage. Durlston Head for a coastal walk. Travel Lodge in Holes Bay Road, 5 mins from Poole town centre. :y
