First off, I understand about the NCDC and Screen pairing, the fact that NCDC HU and Screens, Telematics can be be moved from Car to Car whilst paired together without issues and NCDC setups need the Car or Audio Pass for Tech 2 work but my question is this:
Scenario -
Car 1, has NCDC paired with GID and known Car/Audio Pass Code.
Car 2, Has NCDC paired with CID and Telematics and known Car/Audio Pass Code.
So we swap the NCDC set up between the two cars, no issues all works fine, but what if at future date, work is required on one of the set ups, ie depairing, can a Tech 2 cope with the original Car Pass Code and a another known Code from the the NCDC Set Up swap? ie two different codes and vise versa?.
Sorry if its a dumb question but not being a Tech 2 owner I have no idea. ;)

Unsure how it affects the Omega, but in some other later Vauxhalls where people are swapping the CD30 and paired screens, it is starting to cause a very expensive and somewhat major issue, as ECU`s are becoming corrupted or refuse to communicate at all. I`ve lost count of the number I have now seen.
My advice is to Depair - Install and then pair correctly to the new vehicle every time. :y
can a Tech 2 cope with the original Car Pass Code and a another known Code
Basic answer - No. Tech2 needs the CORRECT code, not a variety of them.

Its intersting that one as every time I see this its down to the use of a 'cheapo' code reader

The problem we are experiencing (a lot!) is where a paired radio and display have been retro fitted into a car. When the car is the interrogated with Tech2, in some screens (especially when interrogating Gearbox) the default code for the car is seemingly overwritten (not everywhere) using the incorrect and often unknown code from the radio that has been incorrectly fitted. We think the data is being taken from the display and we are working with the local Main Dealer to confirm this.
The unwanted end result though, is that you now have two codes floating around in the car and Tech2 is now failing to communicate correctly using either of them - whether clone or genuine. The only way to reset the codes is to remove and force program each individual ecu and component in turn, which can be quite a time consuming (and costly) excercise.
The cause of the problem can be squarely attributed to the idiots who are selling a paired display and radio, and advising that they can be retro fitted without any programming. It all works fine, right up to the point a Tech2 is plugged in - and then disaster.

Never seen that and my own was in such a position for 12 months until I got the original code for the stereo (CD70 by extracting the VIN from the display) and it had plenty of tech 2 activity.

Usually Astra and Zafira we see it on - 06~08 vintage with CD30 and basic display

Mine is a 2008 Zafira.
More interesting is the method by which this can happen, it would be interesting to know what tech 2 function they were doing when it happened, maybe an ecu reset and reconfigure?

Thats exactly what we are trying to ascertain.
All we can work out so far, is that the technicians are playing around the engine / gearbox areas and the spurious data we have loaded into the radio and display has now ended up in the main ecu !!
-
I wonder if they were doing an ECU reset and reconfigure.
Do you know the engine type?
-
I`ll find out engine types
As far as ECU reset, no - although I generally don`t trust the Vx technicians as far as I could throw them and cannot speak of the others around the country, they guys I am working with down here are pretty clued up and know their way around the software and are just as puzzled as I am as to how this is happenning.

Indeed. Seeing quite a few NCDCs now which are corrupted, and owners admit to trying to reconfigure with a certain cloned code reader. Also seeing a fair number of AWTS ecus as well suffering the same.

Zirk - as long as you have the code that was used to pair each setup, you're fine.
(assuming Omegas and NCDCs)

Yep, Thanks :y
