Havin recently learned some painting and now trying to put all back together (as well as trying to get the car shine) I'm after some detail part info:
rear door opening is protected with this kind of "tape" in the area where door seal meets the wheel arch/door pillar
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vauxhall-Omega-B-rear-RH-door-lock-stone-protection-foil-vinyl-/290531570424?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a507f2f8 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vauxhall-Omega-B-rear-RH-door-lock-stone-protection-foil-vinyl-/290531570424?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a507f2f8)
What is commonly used to replace these? 15 euros for a piece of tape sounds a bit steep to me :-\

Bought mine from Vauxhall, iirc, price sounds about right :-\ don't forget the clear film strip that sits in front of the rear wing above the black strip :y

I already did forget that, or I protected it with tape... Bloody pricy tape IMHO, is it really worth it?

It stops the door seal (and all the crap it collects) from rubbing through the paint :y

I'm tempted to try some other solution, 30+ euros for two feet of tape is too much.... :-\

3M might do something suitable, but you'll probably spend as much for a roll of suitable tape :-\ better value, sure, but not necessarily better off :y

Search EBay for 3m Di Noc vinyl. It's used for all sorts of finishes, and £15 will get you a piece big enough to do several doorshuts.
