Title: Clicking/Knoking/Klunking
Post by: grain.ben on 06 April 2013, 09:01:20
Got a few niggles I want to sort out next week while im off work.

1> Got a clicking noise coming from the passenger door/ B pillar area. Hard to explain, but imagine a pendulum thats swaying back and thorth and hitting something on each side, now, when i set off, click, and when i brake, click  :-\ , any ideas as its driving me mad, does it all the time  :-\

2> Had a clunking issue ever since i got the car, it clunks and knocks on the front end, coming from the suspension area/ wheels ect. It clunks when going over rough roads, bumps and potholes i cant avoid  :-\ . The funny thing is, when ever i take the front wheels off it stops doing it for a while then comes back (like ive disturbed something  :-\ ). And something else ive noticed, it doesnt do it when its very cold outside, like this morning, but when the temperature rises is happens more! Any ideas?

3> how the hell does the passenger side air vent come off, ive found the guide but it wont come free so i can get my glovebox out  >:(

Cheers chaps, hope you all have a lovely weekend   :y

2> Will have the wishbones checked again and will check the droplinks, i know the drop links are non gm, (had them fitted before i found this this site, not knowing to use gen gm ones at the time  ::) ) They are my suspicion anyway  ::)

3> isnt the "hidden" screw behind the vent?? Its the frigging vent i cant get out unless im not pulling? it hard enough?  :-[

Yep, end off, then two screws, one at top, one at bottom, i removed both, the top of the vent moves but the whole vent doesnt want to shift  :-[

to remove vent top screw only then pull vent towards door whilst pulling it out its location as a holding tab on side closest to airbag   hth

GM droplinks cost to much.  Febi, Lemforder or Merle HD are cheaper and as good as GM

Clunking = * Dropliks  :y

* = possibly! possibly drop links. But given the the other descriptions re temp and jacking, I'm going with bushes. ESP as drop links are a rattle, not a clonk, so much.

But its defo worth checking drop links. Play can be fealt with both wheels jacked. :)

Might sound a bit obvious but have you tried full lock both ways and checking springs in bottom of cup for any
breakage ?
