Hi there its now time to finally change my brakes, pads and discs. Has anyone info on all the police spec stuff for the omega ie brakes, suspension and what ever else they did? and also where can these parts be got if they can be?
-
Police used same as retail

so is it just total BS about the shocks and brakes being better? or is there sports options from vauxhall? If not what are really good pads and discs. Not track day stuff but a good budget way better than standard stuff. thanks

Some cars were ordered with heavy duty springs, brakes are the largest available for the Omega :y

lol im being a green horn and newbie here. Please explain what you mean lol

For best braking performance use genuine Vauxhall 3.2 discs, vented all round, along with factory fitted pads. Pads cost about 3 times the dealer supplied trade club ones. Fresh fluid as well.
Both my estates were fitted with 'Rough Road Package' suspension, not sure the shocks are different, but springs are thicker and slightly longer. Might also get different roll bars.
Basically, give your local dealer your reg and chassis numbers and they should be able to tell you what you need to know :y

Brakes there's only two options.
Trade club front disc pad set. £110 odd.
Oe pads. £70 odd for front axle.
Plod use the oe pads. That's all there is.
Plod cars generally where ordered to their own spec. Very low rim level, updated springs, sometimes with self levelling.
All in order with the use the car gets. Not necessarily the sort of use that suits retail customers/joe public. For instance some plod cars might be considered over sprung for general use, given the the heavy loads they constantly carried.
There's no evidence of more powerful engine tunes, or plod spec ecu's either, going by posts here.
Anyway...
Best bet is get yourself a trade club card, and tc disc pad set. Then hope they don't squeal. ::)
