Title: Are the fuel pumps the same for all petrol engines?
Post by: Jan Suhr on 09 April 2013, 12:35:44
My '01 3.2 didn't start yesterday and it behaved as the fuel pump didn't work. After letting it rest over night it started this morning. My other 2.2 did the same before the fuel pump gave up totally.

So I'm expecting to change the fuel pump soon. I can find them on the scrap yards. But my question is if they are all the same for all petrol engines or if the 3.2V6 has a higher capacity pump than the 4-bangers.

fairly sure there all the same, any fault codes before you get too involved?

Thanks for the info.

No codes this time and no ones on the other car.

I don't know if the fuel pump has any diagnostic circuitry that will report any codes, I don't think so.

I did suspect the crank sensor on my other car and changed it but still had the same problem until I changed the pump.
