Title: Another big thanks to Lazydocker
Post by: tunnie on 09 April 2013, 16:03:54
Some may remember that he helped converted my 2.2 to LPG in 2010, the process has been used as guides here.

For various reasons I had to have the LPG certified, so today it went in. 3 years and 30k later I've done nothing to it apart from tighen 1 feed pipe that worked its way loose, today it passed its inspection! Couple of very minor things to sort, secure back feed pipe as it was rubbing against brake pipe and put the tank straps on the right way around  ::)

Other than that all good!

Great place, thanks for recommendation TheFatShadow  :y

There was a Bently being converted whilest I was there, a 6.0 W12 at a cost of £3k  :o

It was white, I thought i was paint but it was a dark green car that had a very impressive wrap.

I'm pretty much out of action at the moment... Got a big charity night of comedy and music I'm helping arrange in Islington on the 27th (for the lad I posted up about a few weeks back who needs radiation therapy in the US) which is taking up a massive amount of time! Then got (finally) my follow up appointment at the hospital a week later to get an idea of when I'm going in again d=for surgery.

And in between all that I'm about to take on another guy for the business so sorting things for that too!

Can't see me being available again much before October/November time TBH :-\

That guy is realistic, and not an arsehole just because he didn't get the fitting job. IMHO anyway.

Glad it passed without any real issue, though guess it will be months before you sort it :P

Lets aim to do the Elite during the longer days, so May/June/July, maybe over a couple of weekends :y.  There are some things I'm too much of a scaredy cat to do though...  ...pretty much anything with a drill.

Start getting the bits together now.

Yes sounds good, your right about it being done sooner rather than later. It will then finally get some use!

So Stag 300 plus, Gold KME reducer, but are Valtek injectors a no-no for a big V6?  :-\

This kit has "dream" ones, rings a bell with JamesV6CDX, that he had them  :-\

Kit here for £340:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAG-300-6-ISA2-350-HP-FRONT-KIT-LPG-AUTOGAS-SEQUENTIAL-6-CYLINDERS-CONVERSION-/190808411555?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c6d114da3 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAG-300-6-ISA2-350-HP-FRONT-KIT-LPG-AUTOGAS-SEQUENTIAL-6-CYLINDERS-CONVERSION-/190808411555?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c6d114da3)

About the right price? Yes its going to be missing all little bits needed but Telio is out of the picture I here. So guess a little trip to Tinley would be in order  :-\

Well, the Stag 300 plus (aka ISA2), KME Gold and Stag injectors is a known entity...

That price seems high, as by the time all the tank, valves, fillers, pipework etc is going to bump up a bit? Not really sure on prices, as both mine were complete kits.

Its one of the cheaper ones listed, searching for stag 300 plus, out all of them them this is the cheapest with a "shark" reducer:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAG-300-6-AUTOGAS-SEQUENTIAL-INJECTION-LPG-6-CYLINDER-KIT-W-VALTEK-INJECTORS-/290803454725?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b53c9305 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAG-300-6-AUTOGAS-SEQUENTIAL-INJECTION-LPG-6-CYLINDER-KIT-W-VALTEK-INJECTORS-/290803454725?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b53c9305)

Only a tad cheaper at £330  :(

OOo just found it a lot cheaper here:

http://www.autogas-lpg.co.uk/product.php?id_product=33 (http://www.autogas-lpg.co.uk/product.php?id_product=33)

By a considerable margin! But the reducer is not one i've heard of used here before..

Think Sassanach said 100L will go in?

Its a 360, but have a feeling that one is too wide?  :-\

They sell KME Gold, ask them for a "kit" price, also see if they can quote with Stag injectors.

Good call, i'll make enquires tomorrow.

What is your tank size? 360/80L?  I'd like that width but in a 90L or even maybe 100  :)

Errrr, ask that cripple bloke  :-[

If you go 90 or 100l, you'll prob have to go 400mm, preventing the ability to put stuff through into cabin. The 80l size I have, the frame sits "right" making it an easy fit.

Suppose i'll have to think about LPG'ing mine...  ::)

Its win win really, my 2.2 in the summer did 27mpg on gas. Also in the summer my 3.2 did 27mpg, but on petrol  ::)

So one cost 69p a litre to fill the other one cost £1.39

Guess which one gets the most use?  ::)

Just put your hand in your wallet, fill your car with petrol, use the boot, fill it with petrol, use it ....... it's only money  ::) ::)

I do   :y

Unfortunately 'only money' seems to be a rapidly disappearing item in my wallet.

Yep, 80L 360 dia. (so 360 by about 900 if memory serves) is about the best size for the saloon, IMHO. Yes, you can squeeze a few more litres in, but it's the best compromise between usable space in the car and range. You can still poke long items through the back seats, and the space around it is great for absorbing all the sh1te that's normally floating around in the boot.

Should get 300 miles out of it in a 3.2 with your mimbling. ;)

Well not having much luck outside eBay:

http://www.autogas-lpg.co.uk/content/4-about-us (http://www.autogas-lpg.co.uk/content/4-about-us)

Previous posted cheap place, has no contact number (put me straight off) and quite a few posts of very poor after service following some googling.

http://www.professautogas.co.uk/ (http://www.professautogas.co.uk/)

This place were friendly, but only sell if I as approved installer  ::) - No matter they wanted £480 for a kit.  :(

So that eBay kit looks like a good price now  :-\

Both those companies linked to have "poor" reputations IMHO... But you don't need any support (as such) so that's not such a major issue ;)

Rang Tinley, very helpful as always. They said unless its serious power or a big turbo, single hole tank would be enough.  :-\

But for standard 80L that most of you have, plus filler, "fast" filling pipe to tank, 6m poly, clipps, vent pipes, tank valve, tank sender, external filler would be £310 + vat + deliver  :'(  :(

Dropped to £220 if single hole tank used  :o

I have an arsehole lag on my MV6, which is single hole, but utilising a hi flow rate multivalve, rather than standard multivalve. Lag could be anything though.

If you stick with what we know works well on the Omega, you may avoid this, plus all the problems associated with being a trail blazer.  That said, you seem happy enough with the poor kit on your 2.2  ???

But for sake of £100 - or an extra 1000 miles payback

;)
Title: Re: Another big thanks to Lazydocker
Post by: Kevin Wood on 10 April 2013, 18:38:37
Yep, I'd go 4 hole every time. IMHO, the power output capabilities stated for most LPG kit (which is probably what Tinley go on) is purely theoretical verging on the fiction.

Go with what works, and is proven on the Omega. :y

How is it, whenever I get in it, the bloody thing bleeps, stutters, and generally pisses around until it decides petrol is the answer? :P

Mind you, until you have connected the steering wheel to reality in that car, you don't want to drive too hard ;D

I use a foot, not a button for the throttle  ::)

That said I did rev it to 5k rpm yesterday, no probs  :o

Adjusted the HC levels at idle, apparently on petrol they were 7, but 79 on gas  ???  :-\

Saw him adjust them on the graph very slightly, actually feels a little lumpier at idle because of it  :-\
