I believe he had probably had enough of OOF, not helped by a minor scuffle with me I suspect, so has left. Which he is, of course, perfectly entitled to do.

On a semi-serious note, other than a certain one track mind when he gets an idea into his head he is a very knowledgeable, helpful and sociable bloke, be a shame if this teddy throwing became permanent.... it would be the forums loss in a big way .. just look at the work he did on the bushes front.

Perhaps his curry eating mates could persuade him back ???

chrisgixer has decided that it was time for him and OOF to part company.

He learned a lot, technically, from OOF when he first joined, and I know was keen to pay that back by helping others, either physically or by advice online.  As far as I'm concerned he put in more that he took from OOF, so I think he accomplished his goals over the past 2 to 3 years.

I know he wasn't the most articulate with his prose - not helped by that bloody gayPad of his - and I think felt frustated by (and others equally frustrated by him) not being able to get his point of view across, but I'm sure that most people who have met him and got to know him (I know he felt uncomfortable in crowds of people) will agree that he was an approachable, helpful, friendly OOFer who had a real desire to help fellow OOFers.

I think him leaving is a sad loss for OOF to be honest, and secretly hope he will return soon.  However, I suspect he won't, so on that basis, I'd like to wish him all the best for the future, and thank him for all the help he has given me personally, and to the help he has given members.

I'll always remember the Curry night after front suspension work on my new 3.2, after much pish taking about my student-ness, my trusty steed lacking of a full compliment or horses. Followed by a lot of comments on my driving style  ::)

He then decided to show all the "damage" to his body from working on my car, to which I replied. "Its not my fault you are fat"  ;D ;D

I think the waiter almost dropped the plate of onion bhajis, followed by a certain admin almost spraying beer all over the table.  ;D  ;D ;D ;D

Lots of car work, followed by great laughs and a curry. Hope he will still be around for those!  :(  :-\

Chris was the very first person that I spoke to personally from OOF and I found him approachable and easy to speak to. Having met him personally a few times since at meets, I found him sociable but in a quiet way. He is knowledgeable and inquisitive and as said, happy to advise or help.
I admit that as he was so easily approachable, I tended to speak to Chris first at meets before mingling with the others.
Meeting him personally, I found that he is nothing like his online persona, but this is also true of some others I have met through OOF.  ;)

Whatever Chris decides to do, I wish him all the best, and that's not just because he said I make a lovely cup of tea.   ;) ;D ;D

Alan

I don't recommend a trip to Asia then - the crowds are something else over there and I (who, like you, hate supermarkets and crowds) wanted the ground to swallow me up half the time.

Actually, I take that back, it's still an awesome place to visit.

Anyway, </drift>, I'm sad to see Chris go, even if he did post endless tyre threads ;) - he's a good bloke and has helped me out on a number of occasions (including non-Omega things). Hopefully he'll still catch up with some of us for a curry in the real world :y

Don't hold your breath... This has been brewing a long time ;) ;)

As I think I've said above, I've been close recently but have just taken time away ;) I'll not be online much for the next few weeks (minimum) as I have plenty of other things I need to be doing... Probably still look in briefly a couple of times a day but not spend the hours here I have been ;)
