Title: Wireless Intercom
Post by: Olympia5776 on 09 April 2013, 23:01:39
Just spent an hour trying to find a plug n talk type of wireless intercom to use between house and workshop. I'm looking for the type that transmit over the 240v ring main but a true intercom rather than a baby monitor. I thought it'd be a simple look on Ebay and order job but found only a couple and they had poor reviews on Amazon >:(
I thought these would be common and freely available  ..........
Tried Ebay UK, DE  , Maplins and Amazon , any other suggestions  ?

If you find one, please let me know. I undertook a fruitless search for something similar a while back.  ;)

Because one end is permanently on transmit when powered up so either I'd be listening to the TV indoors when in the workshop or my wife would be hear me swearing and cussing whilst working in the workshop......
An intercom is on push to talk .
I'll probably opt for a set of walkie talkies.

Cheap set of walkie talkies would do the job, see if they have a charging base unit for each room saves on batteries as well

Do you have a laptop out in the workshop connected via wireless?
You could use skype from the house pc and the workshop pc

Cheap PMR Walkie Talkies, most have a VOX option. The more expensive ones have either a power socket for a PSU, or a method of rigging up a power supply.
