:-[ My 20 year old son has been whining about not feeling well, bad stomach, being sick etc , i've been having a right pop at him about the amount of c**p he drinks -loads of red bull, monster, caffine type drinks, saying no wonder you've got bad guts, need to live your life better etc , finally took him to the docs yesterday , doc says "straight to hospital, looks like a burst appendix" he had the bugger whipped out and they also discovered he had a hernia just to top things off ! looking back i suppose i could have been a tad more sympathetic OOPS :-[

:y Just come back from the hospital ,all sorted out, turns out it had actually burst and made a right mess , poor lad looks like s**t , pale as anything, could be in for a couple of days , only good thing is at least it happened here and not where he is at uni down in Crewe ,180 miles away :y

He's a lucky lad then .. burst appendix easily leads to peritonitus ... which can be a killer if not caught soon enough .. :( Yup .. he'll feel like sh** for a fair few days...then he'll need to take things very steady for a few months

lucky escape!
It's actually a big fear of mine as I get pains all the time in my abdomen and distinguishing between something like this and just a minor crohn's flare or trapped wind* I get worried I dismiss something serious for something I thought was benign. But if I went to A&E every time I had pain I'd never leave the hospital......
peritonitis or even sepsis are not funny :(
*I once had the most excrutiating pain which gave me spots in my vision and had me on the floor writhing. I was about to go to A&E when the biggest fart came out....pain gone :-[ ;D

Been there, not nice at all, miss diagnosed when I was young then blue lighted to hospital once the penny dropped with the quack, ended up with a drain bag attached :-\

:y Finally got the boy home, he's a bit bruised and sore as hell from 3 keyhole incisions but still feels way better than he was, can't fault the locum doctors diagnosis or the hospital treatment ( apart from charging him £10 a day just to watch TV ) he should have been back at uni this week but the doctor says it is way too soon , so at least his mother gets the chance to spoil him rotten for a while ::)
-
Good news :y That was probably a closer shave than you think.
-
Yes, great news, home and recovering :y
