But how do we get out of it?
The author is German, has lived in the UK and worked for the Centre for Policy Studies, but like many other forward looking Europeans has now migrated to Australia. Between 1997 and 2006 nearly 2m Britons left the UK. Looking ahead, this is also my solution.
On his website there is also a very interesting paper of why migration has worked in Australia to form a cohesive multicultural society and why it has failed in Europe. His conclusions is that selective migration for skilled workers that make a positive contribution to society works and mass migration of many unskilled people doesn't with welfare dependency and separate population groups.

Reading the title, I thought this was going to be aimed at Americans.

I'll have a proper read later, Rods, but I don't know why anyone should be surprised at this. As a certain miss Zoom will tell you, it's a natural shift. Empires, financial, military or whatever, always implode on themselves. As our continent falls, the emerging economies will rise. Probably not without conflict, but that's the way it has worked thus far.
It's no good decrying the passing of it, be prepared for a different future.

Oh, and as an aside, you can guarantee the money men from Europe already have plans in place to protect their personal wealth.

I have now read the paper, and I cannot argue with it's summary and conclusion.
As said, it is a natural action that power and wealth will shift, empires and regions will implode, and a new future will beckon.
Power has moved from East (Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, Otterman, China, to Spain, France, Austro-Hungarian, Britain, America), to West and now it is going back the other way. No surprise, and to be completely expected. That is not a worry, but what is can be when change takes place, conflicts of major proportions transpire.
Hold on to your hats, and everything else, for a bumpy ride! :o :o :o :D :y

Speaking of history......didn't Lizzie spurn old Skruntie a year or two back. She's fickle and will do the same to you if you're not careful. :)

I'm used to it. In fact, the young ladies on the tills at ASDA do it most days. :'(

If I say so myself, I've always been popular with the ladies. Perhaps I'm just a likeable rogue. :)

There is no way out of it.
Cameron is posturing to "negotiate". Next general Election. Labour with a large majority. No need for a coalition involving UKIP or Lib Dems.
Done deal, greater integration and a Federal Europe. :y
