Since I put the stereo back into my car some 16 months ish ago, the 'CDC Open' warning has flashed. I've thought about fixing it several times but my attempts to remove the unit were always a bit half hearted. I had always believed that the spring in the switch was broken, and do the unit always believed the door was open. I had planned to remove the arm from the switch so that it would not know when the door was open at all.
So, this morning I went for it! But I'm sure you've guessed - in the end the fascia clips broke :'(
So the unit is still in the dash, the fascia is on the seat, and the radio is still on! More importantly the 'CDC Open' indicator is not flashing! There are two wires running from the switch which weren't connected since I got the car and I don't know if they have any function? The spring in the switch is not broken so I'm guessing these wires may be to blame.
Anyone got any ideas?

And I still can't get the rather unit out >:(

I feel your pain. I had a nightmare getting mine out. Had to make new mounts for the facia after it ripped off.
I used tiny tabs of an old credit card and araldited them in. Then drilled holes in them for the screws.
When I put it back in, I removed the stupid side clips and made a strap out of folded duct tape which I could use to pull the unit out in future. Just tucked it behind the facia and hook it out if I need to remove.
Glad I did as I had to take it out last week as the volume knob wasn't working. Result.

Good idea! Might steal that one ::)
Have to get it out first though ???

This won't budge. Aaargh! Why did I start this >:( >:(

Well finally got it out (oh er missus!) the car is a sorry sight with a gaping hole in the dash :-[
I'll get it sorted though, but before I start trying to refit the fascia, has anyone any thoughts on the blue wires? Or has anyone got a CCR 2006 on a bench somewhere, rather than in the car?
TIA :y

I should add that the wires look like an afterthought rather than an original part of the unit, although tbh I've never seen the back of a 2006 before :-\

I use a dry lubricant when refitting double din units. Have to ensure they fully seat, of the fist time you floor it, the radio ends up embedded in the gearstick

And the best fix I found for the broken tabs is to use some solder tabs. Bend them over at the end and heat the bent section up, push it into the plastic so the hole in the tab is where the screw goes.

Well, got it all sorted and put back together.
Went down the old card route to create new tabs ( cheers pal :y ) and I was really pleased that I was able to get it back together as I had thought it might have been fubar :-X
Got it back in the car and the upper left corner sits slightly proud. Wondering if the tab on that side is a little too long, and the fascia isn't tight enough to the unit?
CD and radio work ok and the CDC alert has gone :)
Unfortunately the cassette doesn't seem to be working :( I only use it for my iPod, but still. The unit does not acknowledge the cassette adaptor thing is in the unit, and it won't now eject. Thinking there is maybe a loose or missing spring perhaps? I have a spare, though untested radio part of the 2006 in the shed, so I'll see if I can compare the two for any differences.
Any other thoughts or suggestions welcome :y
