Just been woke by missis to say a loud bang from engine bay the engine management light came on then cut out. She's currently sat on hard shoulder of m6 awaiting recovery and possible tow home.
-
Probably cam belt - same thing happened to me in 2008
-
nah it only 12 months old, shes just called the auxillary belt has snapped, but knowing my missis she wouldnt of noticed the battery light on saying a problem, just hope its not been cooked as rac guy said to her it was extreemly hot still when he got there
-
good luck with that - my son in laws Mondeo V6 had that happen last year - thought it might be cooked but was absolutely fine
-
Fingers crossed :y
The residual heat of the V6 is quite impressive ::)

Good luck Al, my Ex stuffed my V6 HG within 5 mins of the aux belt coming off :'(
-
its up and running but as rough as a bears ass, miss firing all over place, looks like lots of painstaking work ahead, only code it throwing up is hall sensor though

Are you sure that none of the shredded belt found its way inside the cam belt covers, seen it happen and throw the timing a tooth or too ???
-
cover is unmarked, going to let it cool and check wiring to cam sensor, may of nipped it with flying debris
-
Happened to me with the first 3.0 , i was doing 70 ish on the motorway ::) battery light came on but coasted it half a mile to the slip road with no power steering :( Steam everywhere and aux belt wrapped around the tension er ... new belt and pulley wheel ... was fine after that :y
-
still no joys, may take cam sensor off mv6 in min just to rule it out, thing is its so bloomin hot now
-
changed cam sensors over, no faults on mv6 with elite one fitted, going to go buy some new plugs just in case they broke down with heat, due a new set so wont harm, whilst changing them think i give compression test too
-
I'd be checking the cam timing before spending anymore money on it
-
i ran mine for approx 8 miles with no water, result cooked!! head gasket time :'(
-
hate to say it mate-but as 3.0 you likely need head gaskets doing-or worst case-another engine :'( :'(
-
already have wind of a good engine fsh and cheap too, if it terminal then out she goes to make way for a newer model

i wish sometimes :y :y :y
-
adey, I notice your catchphrase is ''if all else fails, hit it with a hammer''... have you tried ...?
-
sorry pal, couldnt resist... even tho' youre prob well peed off at the min ... :(
-
if i hit it with a hammer means more repairs this time, yeah was peed at first but now just another job to a longer list of bits to do to 3 cars, pia that it was this one as it the one on lpg so now back to petrol prices
-
Got a 84000 mile v6 engine with bills etc sitting here. 8)
-
could of been worse, could off happened last saturday then you would off been in it :y ;D

yes i did-the heat frys the rings-when you add up gaskets+parts=cheaper to swap engines ;)
-
if it had happened last sat then the car would of been fine now as i keep a eye on guages so would of seen the temp gauge bouncing off the top of the clocks and a mini crimbo tree, was nice meeting and putting a face to a name, towbar fitted too so thanks a lot
