Just my rather luck then..Ok the syptoms are

Starts and revs..On display automatic gearbox is showing..Also when i rev it, all gauges go to zero.. :o

It seems like the alternator is knackered for a start.

It does give me the 10 flashes then 5 then 6 i have checked..Unless im going daft..Dont answer that..Time to get it fixed and sell it as i want a change anyway..

Its off the road now for the rest of the week as i shall be in work but want it up and running for next weekend so any ideas are welcome.

Just had to go out and buy some new spanners and things because some kind person stole all my tools a fortnight ago..

Check the security of the three round plugs next to the battery - specially the blue one.

Measure the battery voltage when running.

Check the TPS - under the throttle body on 2.0.

Start by checking cabling to the IACV, make sure its plugged in properly too otherwise could be its knackered.

I have been told it could be a relay, trouble is which one..Anyone identify relay M33 i think it was,,Does this make sense to anyone.

Does anyone know where the relay is for the ICV.?

There is no relay for the ICV, its directly controlled by the ECU!

And M33 is the idle valve!

There is a main supply relay which is K42 but, this also switches the supply to the injectros and a whole host of ther stuff.

As a little test, if it i the idle valve, then applying a small amount of throttle will work around it....

I have plenty of throttle and revs but, When i rev it the fuel and temp gauges go to zero..

On tickover all is fine but give it throttle aand the ABS light comes on and needles drop to zero, also automatic gearbox is showing on display.

It was running ok when i parked it up last night.

I'd check what happens to the battery voltage when you rev it. Sounds like something is happening to the supply for instrument panel, ABS and Autobox to get the hump at the same time.

Thats why i thought it might be the alternator. :y

Have you managed to sort out your problem Spongebob?
Title: Re: Fault codes
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 13 May 2008, 23:47:37
Had a problem with a Rangey Alternator a few years ago, something was allowing the current to go back up to the instrument panel.... but cant remember exactly what the problem was, regulator or diode..
Got a new alternator and it cured the problem

Searching for an alternator as we speak.. :y
Title: Re: Fault codes
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 14 May 2008, 01:05:53
Let us know how you get on mate....

On the Old Rangey we had when we turned the car off and took out the key the battery light used to come on :-?
But the new alternator did cure it something to do with current going up the D+ wire when it shouldn't :y
