Hi everyone,
I am about to replace the cambelt and a water pump, but there's another noise that I can't identify and I was wondering if anybody here can recognize this kind of rattling noise?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_E0TowDBMM
I can only hear this rattling noise when the engine is cold, and actually cold, like overnight cold.
If the engine is warm enough during the daylight, without driving, I can't hear it either so only when the engine is really cold.
The water pump is getting replaced along with the cambelt very soon. The tensioner bearing will be greased (or replaced), but what about the X rattling noise?
Thanks in advance!

To me, it sounds like a broken up bearing??? Maybe???
If you can get a stethoscope on it, you should be able to locate it better...

Could be a tensioner pully
Out of interest are you replacing the Cambelt/tensioner as its overdue ?

All I can hear is what sounds to be a crusty tensioner :-\ maybe get that replaced and sort the w.pump pulley and then see if that noise goes away :-\
ps, nice font btw :y

Sounds like tensioner pulley bearing mate :y

broken up bearing = tensioner pulley! What they ^^^ said.

Just my tuppence worth, could it be the air con clutch assembly. As it sounds just likes dads car a few years back.
On dads the noise changed with turning air con off and on. It happened to his after a year of not using the air con. If it is not used the belt just runs on the bearing in the clutch assembly of the aircon pump.

Could be Auxiliary tension-er pulley bearing ... take it to bits and re-grease :y
-
Remove aux belt, run engine, see if noise is still there

It's been 4.5 years, I'm planning a long journey this summer and I also got this :D:

I think this noise is coming more from the right hand side (on video at least). The power steering pump and its hoses are all wet.. not sure what's going on there :P

Fortunately I am in possesion of a brand spanking new air con compressor so I'm covered here :D the only problem I will have is to refill it 8)

I have done this before, not sure if it can take any more :]
Remove aux belt, run engine, see if noise is still there
That would be my next step. :) :y
Thank you all for your input, more off course welcome and I will keep you updated :)
Tomorrow morning I'll turn the air con on to see if I can hear it.
