As stated in a previous thread one of my headlight bulbs has blown. I don't know what type of bulb it is or what I'm after so was wondering of someone could tell me or let me have a part number so I can get a replacement before I start. It's an 03 2.6 cd and its the outermost of the 3 bulbs. Also what are the best bulbs to use? Many thanks guys

How's this? http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90457.0 :y
You say, the 'outermost' .... is that the dipped beam? Do you have HIDs?
-
TBH I haven't a clue what type of lights they are andy. There's 3 bulbs in the unit and it lights up ;D. Its only the dipped headlight that have failed on one side. I intend to go out and look but its absolutely lashing down here >:( :'(

Should be an H1 bulb. GM part number is 93190463 @ £3.66 + VAT. If you go to any factor just as for a 55 watt H1 bulb
Cheers
Andy

Cheers guys, got a break in the rain there and popped it out and it is 55w H1as suggested. Is 55w the brightest available for dips as I always thought the dips were fairly dull, full beam are fantastic and the headlight covers are really clean, like new in fact, so no probs there but dipped heads do seem dull even when both were working. Maybe these are just cheap pattern bulbs

Hmmmmm, so what are my other options then?? Is there any point going for any of these ice blue or purple or whatever other colour options I see advertised. Will they do any good?

NO
Silly colours are a result of playing with the colour "temperature", and have little link to increased light output, and in most cases actually REDUCE the "luminescence". Stick with 4500K, perhaps 6000K at most .. above that .. forget it... IMHO

Quite a few people seem to recommend Osram Nightbreakers as a good 'upgrade' - rated the same but better output.

Got them here in my 2.2, considerable improvement over standard :y
Also worth keeping headlights clean, often before a night drive just give them a quick wipe as they easily build up a film of cr@p :)

Have them on mine dip and main beam not as good as Xenon but about the best bulbs you can get for halogen headlamps. :y

Have seen the ''nightbreaker'' named in a few threads and tbh I think I'll give those a try. Is it possible to fit Xenons in my lights?

I'm sure Sam Burton fitted them to his 2.2 Dti GLS / Elite conversion :-\

I'd check the new MOT regs before you think of doing a conversion.

Had a look at other threads there and I dont think I could be bothered going to the trouble/expense of swapping out the lights for Xenons. Changing the bulbs will do fine me thinks. Thanks for your help all

Osram Nightbreaker plus fitted now. £12 the pair down local motor factors, last pair he had as well. Have to wait night fall now to see if there's any difference. Drivers side bulb was a nightbreaker from before while the passenger side looks like a cheapy, maybe thats why the drivers side was still going eh?
