Now im a vec head ::) i was browsing the site and found this picture of a typical water way corroded head for not using antifreeze . This is what i found on one or two as well :( It pays to change it the antifreeze but in this case i would have thrown away the head ::)

The critical thing is the condition of the surface where the fire ring sits. If there is a hint of pitting there then get the head lightly skimmed.
Alternatively you can probably get a pair of good heads from an OOF breaker for less than the cost of the machining.

anti- freeze is also corrosion inhibitor-chemical reaction between alloy/water causes alloy to rust-yes alloy rust's-it goes white and powdery ;) also you get nasty reactions when putting stainless steel into alloy too :y
so now you now mate-USE anti-freeze always :y

The important thing is where the blue line of sealant on the headgasket lands. The fact that the TIG weld is depressed means the part behind the crack isn't doing anything useful anyway.

It won't spread, it just shows that the TIG weld didn't fuse where the welder tried to weld to crap (and then the aluminium shrank as it cooled).
Probably best to grind the weld out again but it looks pretty well attached so it shouldn't fall out :-\

If it was me I would not use it like that-I would grind into that crack and tig it then mill head on my cincinatti :y
