Title: new owner
Post by: frenchtony on 06 May 2013, 09:04:22
Hi all
recently bought my Opel Omega 3.2 2002. Very nice car, low mileage, comfortable, a bit more economical that my ML55, but that wasn't hard to beat!

Got a few jobs to do, fixed the broken driver's window switch, bought some nice new aircon control buttons as the old ones have worn away. Try as I may I cannot get the radio out to change the buttons, I bought the special keys but no joy.

topped up the aircon and that is working, for the moment!

Front passenger seat doesn't go fully forward and I can't see anything blocking it, still there is plenty of legroom anyway!

Mine is a de-badged 'designo' logo with a different grill, not sure I don't prefer the original grill.

Job I must do to sleep at night is the cam belt. Got a couple of quotes €579 (euros)from a local garage and €1060 from the stealer! Think I'll do it myself. Trying to locate the locking/timing kit down here in the south of france is proving tricky at a reasonable cost. Just need to hire one ideally.  Mine is the later numbered 3.2 engine, not sure what the difference is re the timing kit, Which one to buy, there are a few on ebay, any recommendations?

Mine is a left hooker but the speedo is in miles, anyone know If I can just change the speedo for a kph one? or do you need to change the complete dash?

Guess I'll order up the cambelt dvd too.

Well followed the tip to cut a groove in the radio keys and that worked.

I just needed to change the fan controls buttons as they were worn, I took the radio cage out but think this was unnecessary as you can get the aircon controller out one the screws for the fascia bit are out. got shiny new buttons now another job ticked off :)
