Title: Which timing kit will I need
Post by: frenchtony on 07 May 2013, 20:09:07
Hi
I'm about to change the timing belt on my Omega 3.2.

No-one seems to know which kit I need.

The VIN is W0L0VBM6921046596 engine Y32SE number 08645562.

It has air con too

thanks in advance

It's the kit that has one eccentric idler & one fixed

If the backplate ID is different, swap over the backplate (but keep the new bearings/tensioner, obviously)

This is the one you need mate http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/details/VAUXHALL/OMEGA/3.2/2003/__/54/CT990K2/timing-belt-kit/ (http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/details/VAUXHALL/OMEGA/3.2/2003/__/54/CT990K2/timing-belt-kit/) - these are Contitech kits (Vx oem supplier).  Used a few of these myself - never had any prolem with them.  HTH :y

great thanks for the advice dbug I'll order that one up.

Any recommendation on the timing lock kit. I live in France so won't be able to rent one so I'm looking for one for this one off job rather than a keeper, thanks

This is the type you need - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-VSE130-Petrol-Engine-Setting-Locking-Kit-Saab-Vauxhall-Opel-V6-Belt-/320863290167?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ab4f14337 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-VSE130-Petrol-Engine-Setting-Locking-Kit-Saab-Vauxhall-Opel-V6-Belt-/320863290167?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ab4f14337) - this is a bit pricey IMO - if you're not in a hurry wait and you should get one for around £50 :y

I'm 10 minutes from Cannes, like it a lot here. But apparently you had a nice day Monday there so don't be greedy, too much sun isn't good for you!

I need to do the job in about 3 weeks so maybe a cheaper set will come up thanks for the advice Dbug
