Title: 2.2 16v throttle problem
Post by: mav1508 on 09 May 2013, 06:58:05
morning all,
im hoping i can pick the brains of the forum....

i have just bought a omega saloon 2.2 16v w reg, generally a good car, however there seems to be something amiss with the response from the throttle..
i noticed it after signing the paper work and completing the deal..yesterday.
the car goes into gear fine and will pull away under its own steam, but when you push the excelerator theres no real response i could have my foot planted to the floor with little response..
once on the motorway and at constant speed it seems ok..but no kickdown..
but driving arround town when i need to pull out of turnings, theres no response its a case of feathering the throttle to try and find a bit of speed....
ANY IDEAS..??????
i was first thinking i was too used to driving 2.5 v6 and above cars... :D
any help gratefully received
thanks
oh by the way im in surrey if anyone has a reader to hand.. ;)

If sponge under scuttle is wet could be water in #4 pot. Check plugwells for oil, possible leaking camcover gasket
Ideally need to get the codes read.

Rear cylinder.. Numbered 1-4 front to back
Dirty/oil soaked plugs/coilpack certainly won`t help

Well. Cleaned throttle body..full of oil breather pipes all cleared. Changed the plugs. Slight improvement... >:( it feels like fuel is not getting through.... It hesitates when you press the throttle...? Could it be fuel blockage..? Still lumpy when cold.for about 30secs...then fine just no power..ticks over perfectly.. Anymore ideas...

Could be the cam sensor, you need to get the codes read.

I took the air filter out tonight...pretty grey looking..rather than the orange it should be..seems to run better.. But ive never driven this model before..always had 2.5 and above... :D so maybe its supposed to be sluggish.. :( i will pop a new filter in tomorrow...but then there was still the spanner warning light...so will find a code reader i could use to find out whats going on.. :)

sorry forgot to mention...it revs up perfectly..there hasnt been a problem reving through the range..just lack of power..? started up this morning without the air filter..no hunting, or rough idling..maybe the air filter needed changing.. :) hopefully px out this weekend for a 3.0 mv6 police special :y but still may change fuel filter, and pop a new air filter in.. ;D
