Title: OBD/USB cable?
Post by: omegod on 11 May 2013, 09:36:43
I have the need to connect my laptop to my car to use some, official of course, diagnostic software. The usb obd connectors I am seeing on the bay are all brand specific such as this VAG one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-WINDOWS-7-VISTA-UK-SELLER-/120934520245?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item1c284255b5

Do I need a specific one for the miggy ? I thought the connectors would all be the same? it is to run on windows 7 if that makes a difference.

What engine have you got? If 2.5/3.0/2.0 there is nothing (legal) cheap.

Any EOBD or OBDII setup should do. For laptops, ELM327 based units should be OK-ish
