Title: The new Sony Xperia Z Mobile - The Water Proof one.
Post by: zirk on 14 May 2013, 19:10:17
Just been chatting to a female friend of mine, one of the things she telling me is about her new Xperia Z, shes been taking in the shower, waving it about in the rain and basic pouring liquid over it at every opertunity to impress her friends. After about a week of doing this the screen started playing and then eventually ceased to function. Not happy shes sent it back demanding a replacement.

Anyway, turns out, and I didn't know this, theres two versions of the phone, Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL, and the difference is, well you've guessed by now, the ZL which is the one she had is the same phone but not water or dust proof, silly Sony!

Lucky for Her, they have offered her a repair or replacement on this one occasion. :y

Dont think this is the first time Im going to hearing about this.  :)

why they dont build all models water proof is really a serious question.. if you have this production line working why try to cut some pennies :-\

I assume its a lower cost option for the customer, but to build the models with the same name, apart from the L on the end is just stupidity in my book, gonna end in tears for some  :D

Exactly what I said to her Del, most would just say tuff shite, youve broke the phone now live with it. She loves the phone so I told her ask them if she parts with a little of cash could the not give her the waterproof model.

True enough Mark, but I cant remember the last time I read a Mobile Manual, mind you, having said that, would have thought I would have known exactly what it does on the tin before I ordered it.

So theres going to 3 flavors, Normal, Splash Proof and Water Proof, on the same phone all with the same name, except the Z, ZL and ZR, askiing for trouble if you axk me.

Sounds like a good way to repeatedly make money from selling repairs/replacements more like.
