Just buy some "multicore" solder from Maplins or the like. The flux is actually inside the solder so you dont need to use a separate flux as you would with soldering a plumbing joint.
Make sure that the joint is physicaly secure before applying heat - so that it dosn't move whilst the solder cools and form a "dry" (i.e bad) joint.
Apply the soldering iron to the joint and then the solder to the joint a second or two later. Don't put a blob of solder on the iron as the solder needs to flow around the joint. The whole time of applying the iron to the joint before removing it should be no more than 3 or 4 seconds - any more than that is not necessary and can cause damage to the components being soldered.
You need to ensure that the tip of the iron is clean before using it - let it warm up to temp & then wipe it with some slightly damp tissue/kitchen roll - it should then look shiny & clean. If not then put some solder onto the tip & wipe it off whilst molten. You might need to clean the tip every couple of joints.
It's best to practice on some spare wire - a joint should be shiny when done. Make up some little "barbed wire" joints on a longer wire & then solved them in turn. Dead easy & cheap to do without damaging any valuable bits.
Dont forget that the whole process should be finished within 3 or 4 seconds, and then allow another 10 secs or so for the joint to cool down.
Finally, be careful with the hot iron!
