I've replaced the Aux belt with VX Genuine GM and after starting up there was a sound hard to describe but eventually found out what was causing it the aux tensioner.. Where would be the best OOF recommended place to just buy that part at a reasonable price .. thanks :)
Car in question is a "51" 2002 3.2 V6 Saloon..
-
Might make a quick video of the sound later.

Was it the pulley bearing that was noisy (I ain't looking at stupid gaytube links)? If so, buy a replacement pulley (only) from dealer/AndyC. No need for entire tensioner.
-
that sounds good :-X :-X :-X

Pretty sure yes. Its only a 7sec Video on YouTube TB ::)

Remove the pulley from tensioner, and feel if the bearing is rough, or has play.
Gaytube vids, nope, never click on 'em. Google aren't quick enough to remove the infected ones :-X

Will most likely be Tuesday now when i can have proper look, weather not promising good for here tomorrow rain/wind.

Try taking the pulley off and greasing the bearing.
-
Did that to mine 18 months ago and its been fine ever since. :y
I have two spares though, just in case. :D

The Pulley part number is 9157962

The Pulley part number is 9157962
Thanks Rob, Will give VX a call Tuesday and quote that part number :y Probably best to buy a new one than grease this one up :-\
-
Not imo no.It costs nothing to grease it,and if the problem is a dry bearing then it will be solved. If its a knackered bearing it will soon be obvious so then replace the pulley. ;)

Will give it a try tomorrow if the weather ain't too bad, was okay with the old Aux belt.

The new belt might just be a tad shorter, hence adding a little more pressure to the bearing.
I agree with Albs above, greasing it might just extend your current tensioner's life a little .......... if not, you'll be replacing it later rather than sooner :y

What about a Used one from OSP :-\
Is this the correct pulley I wonder

I'd not even consider changing the whole tensioner.
Re the roller for £13 .... you might as well buy a new one for a bit more. You've no idea what state the used one is in - it might be about to fail ... it might not! Who knows ;)
-
id replace if it was me or you may end up with a engine in bits like me when pully siezes and shreds belt putting some into your cambelt, this makes it jump teeth and clatter valves, 13 quid or 200 for the rebuild, the choice is yours
-
Will have to wait till Tuesday thanks to the bloody useless bank Holliday to call VX for a quote. But will still try and grease up it tomorrow till I receive the new part. :y unless the VX dealer I use will insist the pulley isn't available on its own but with the tensioner ::)

New pulley about £24 on TC last time I bought one. Not worth buying 2nd hand, and not worth putting link to complete tensioner when advice is to replace pulley only ::) ;)

was having trouble finding one on eBay so put link with tensioner so I could be sure that would be the pulley I needed, How much would it be standard then don't have TC.

Not showing off - most on here know that TC is very cost effective way of buying Vx parts, and most dealers (mine will) give trade prices on non-tc items. If you read old threads you will see the benefits of TC ownership ::) ;)

I've said many times before I would but no point no VX accept it around here.

Clearly I'm the only one that thinks something's rubbing on the cam belt cover....?
If its was tensioner pulley related the noise would be twice or even three times quicker, no?

It is the tensioner pulley I've ruled it out to be that but will be 100% sure soon enough :y

Ruled out? In what way..? :)

I have had two fail and it's very annoying. The bearings seize, the plastic pulley melts and the belts get shredded. No water pump, no alternator, catch bus home. It demonstrates the wisdom of changing the cam belt pulleys every 40000 miles. They are cheap - about £20 from memory.

Slaters Llanwnda are listed on the Tradeclub website, IIRC, you said you were near Anglesey?

They won't know what Autobahnstormers TC is, as there is no such think.
With ABS you get a card that has a TC account number on it (on a sticker in ABS's case). They just need to set up that TC number on their systems (if somebody else hasn't already). I believe ABS give you the number of their TC account rep for the dealer to call if they need to verify its legit.

While it's off, stick a bit of grease under the dust seal ...... it won't mend it, but it'll help till you manage to get a new one :y
