Title: Apple WWDC June 2013
Post by: Mr.OmegaMan on 03 June 2013, 17:49:21
Here we go again  :D

Apple's Yearly June WWDC will be soon and will most likely announce some new products and probably the next iOS software for iPhone / iPad..

 Link (http://www.todaysiphone.com/2013/06/blurry-leaked-image-of-ios-7-home-screen-seems-to-confirm-rumors-of-flatter-design/)

Apparently iOS7 will have a more flatter design.. Interesting  :-X

Enjoy!  ::)

Let the Apple bashing commence..... Now.  ;D

It will be interesting to see what Sir Ive's has done with the look and feel of IOS.

Here's a statemet to get a reaction :-

You get what you pay for and if you want reliable, quality products then Apple will provide

iOS really, really, really needs a big overhaul. Guy I work with is going I think, iPad Mini Retina on cards too, could be seriously tempted by that

Aye iOS is in need of a "Face-Lift" but its simplicity and ease of use should remain just with a few tweaks..

Had a go with a full iPad with retina beautiful screen just a tad heavy the Mini version would be ideal  :y

iPad Mini
iPad 3
MacBook Air

iPad Mini with a Retina Display is something I would be interested in.

Using a iPad Retina here to post, but usually MrsT nicks it off me. The cheek! I was the one who got it on long term loan from work  :-X

Did have a iPad 2 for a few weeks but was to be honest disappointed with the screen quality, But the retina version is tempting in Mini form  :y

Mini needs to bigger chip as well, (Assuming the bigger chip is man enough of course), as mine struggles occasionally.

Anyone having trouble with battery life on the 5?

By that I mean huge battery drain while browsing. Even after turning other features off. 6 hours of web use. I don't remember that on the 4.  :-\

With all the features on, its quite horrific just on stand by, and gets extremely hot with maps and safari etc open. Its like its doing everything at once.

Battery doctor helps, but only up to a point. Ime.

6.1(?) was the start of it iirc.

Yea I've been using battery doctor does help a little, Hope this issue gets resolved whenever the next update is released.

iOS really, really, really needs a big overhaul.
For its intended audience, I'm not convinced. Simplicity is everything. What's there works, and works well, without being bogged down by dross.

Not got any geofenced apps installed? I've found they butt-rape the battery. In fact anything using gps does, but geofenced ones will always use gps.

I don't spend all day stroking mine, so I get a couple of days off a charge, bit more if I don't use the old fashioned features (speaking to people).

Although they have bigger screens to sap power, they also have big batteries. Not the poxy little thing in gayphones.

Proportionately equal...? No?

No.

Gayphone battery is about the size USB Memory stick. Gaypad one is about the size of a gayphone.

When I used the gayphone 3GS, and have to go out on site to build servers, the battery used to get hammered, as I used to tether laptops, and make loads of calls. So I had one of those gay jackets that continously charged it from the jacket's battery.  Not found anything for the gayphone 5 yet, other than chinese tat.

...in area and volume to the power and screen size of the device its fitted to. With functions and usage equal, the battery life is, or has bern broadly similar, when comparing roughly the same era of manufacture.

Until...

Ios6.1 arrived(or whatever one it was). Where by new functions and notifications where added. Non of these apply to ipad 1, as it is running at full capacity already. Some of these apply to ipad mini. All of them apply to iPhone 5.

As you can probably guess, the battery life is directly proportionate for each device, in that the functions drain the battery more and more until the latest version of the software is used.

UNTIL...

The extra functions of the 6.1 are turned off. Notifications being a main one, where it is constantly scanning numerous apps for updates. Most of these appa are rarely used. Email, push notifications can be minimised, data retrieval minimised etc. the list goes on.

Standby time drastically improves. That's fine. Except browsing is still killing the battery. Why is that?

Along with the positioning apps mentioned of course.

I'd also like to know and if anything can be done in the settings to try and improve the battery life, Other than this battery life issue the iPhone 5 has been a good replacement to the 4/4S.

Other than what's covered by battery doctors tips, I can't improve on it personally.

Other thing is, if you need to reset the phone for any reason, all those settings are turned back on again, so you have to go through the settings again to get battery life back again. Ime anyway.

Of the current generation of smartphones it has by far the smallest capacity battery!

There is a smartphone comparison table at the bottom of this page:

Excellent form, as usual from apple. Lets hope they improved the function as well. :y

(The functionality, even now, is still way short of the original all be it crashy, smartphones of some 20 years ago)
