Hi .....welcome to the forum
Sounds like you have an iffy door locking motor, but as it's the driver's door that you're having problems with, just put the key in the lock & turn. It might be hard work, but I'm sure you'll be able to unlock it. :y :y

hi andy,, have tried the key in lock,,have been told by mechanic to keep doing it and eventually it may open,,will try tomorrow,,can u recommend best place for new or used motor??

You will not need a new motor, the key does it, well you might but the key opens it... :-\ either way the key will turn, you may get to the point where you think it will snap but it will turn, been there myself. It is because of lack of use, squirt some wd40 in and let it soak for a while..... :y

There'll be someone about that's breaking a car & will be able to sort you out with a motor if needed. Before you do that, try removing the door card and lub all linkages t/from the door lock. If you do need a new one, make a request in the test section, & I'm sure a benevolent mod will move your request to the wanted section. :y
These how-to-do might be useful ;)

You will not need a new motor, ....
He might if he want to use the fob to open the car rather than the Olde Fashioned way of putting the key in the door lock ::) ::)

If the knob is coming up then surely the solenoid/motor is working ok maybe a linkage come loose

The key almost certainly will work, but you need to use brute force to the point where it feels like the key is going to snap.

Same happened my 02. Door card can be removed with little damage , split around the locking pin easily sealed again follow maintenance guide here. The 3 lower screws can be removed by sliding seat for access. get lock from a breaker and study carefully on removal where everything fits.
