Has any one else got one? and if so any good? And what software do you use with it?
Tho think i might get a serial one as an usb one seems to limit what software you can use

Im hoping that with the correct software i will be able to read the ECU in veccyC (Can bus)  as well
And reset it.....as its it got the EML on.....came on when it had an iffy coil pack fitted....and now its got a nice new shiney one, its still on  :( So just wants resetting i guess.

I was hoping to use something like scantool.net with it.....their software is free download and the adaptors they flog are based on the ELM327 chipsets or failing that..ScanMaster-ELM Version 1.0 for ELM327

If you do get one, I'd be interested in your experiences with it.

CAN is a PITA in my opinion, is its not necessarily the obvious ECU that sensors connect to, but the nearest ECU (which then itself talks to 'obvious' ECU).  So, for example, with an ABS fault, the ABS ECU may not know of the sensor error, as this will be stored in another ECU such as headlight levelling...

Fortunately, real Tech2 has a CAN overview function which appears to check all ECUs and come back with list of problems...

Additionally, Vx CAN cars have 3 buses - Hi/Med/Lo speed, and these are linked by particular devices. For example on Veccy C, the MID links the Hi and Med speed buses (or is it Lo and Med, can't remember), so a fault with MID can cause all sorts of weird errors.

BTW, in case you haven't already found it, the diag socket is behind ashtray on Veccy C...

The ELM chips are generaly pretty good......sure you cna get it cheaper though (check out the ELM site and get a kit perhaps)

I tried my cheapo tech2 on it just to make sure it couldnt read it

Which site do you mean Mark......theres so many sites selling adaptors and software  :-/
