Post by: grannon_mv6 on 09 June 2013, 03:30:56
Hi all, i keep getting a warning message up on the dash saying coolant level. I have checked the level and all is fine.
Any ideas why im getting this?

The sender has either failed (float stuck down) or fallen apart (a 10p sized washer and a golf ball sized float bobbing around in the header tank).

Former is a new tank job, £35 ish. Latter is repairable with care and a soldering iron :y

Benefit of a new coolant bottle is they are clear and look so much better  :)  :y

Or the reed switch is shagged, which is surprisingly common - trouble is, nigh on impossible to remove without snapping the board (I've done loads, and still only have a 50% success rate  :-[

New bottle is the easy fix.

Check sensor plug still connected (under the bottle)  ;)
