Title: Exhaust Query (another one )
Post by: uktigger on 13 June 2013, 00:41:54
I have a 2003 Omega - 2.2 CD (Y22XE) which is in need of a new front pipe with cat. (It seems that it is blowing from the flexible mesh bit after the cat)
As you can probably tell from that description, i'm not too mechanically minded regarding cars  ;)

Can anyone recommend a decent make to use, and where to get it from (preferably not too far from Blackpool)
coz i don't particularly want to pay the £825.00 + vat which was quoted to me by my local dealer (trade club price)

Steve

I believe the mesh is available separately and is a common weakspot :y

Pattern cats are appalling,
Genuine cost a fortune.

You can buy new flexi pipes and have it welded in :y

So what do we do if we need a new cat

So what do we do if we need a new cat

If you have a V6 with pre cat problems, move the sensors or acquire a pair of 3ltr cats which tend to be much more reliable and weld in a lambda boss  :y

Joking aside, he has offered to do them as he has the facilities and ability to do them in the time it would take someone to explain to there local garage what was required :y

Never replace the cat, the pattern ones sound dreadful! Best way is to get a replacement flexi cut out and welded in, the flexi is around £10 delivered, just need to find someone local who can cut and weld.

If they have a plasma cutter its even better, he is mine getting done by our one of our members:
