Title: citreon cam sensor

a neighbour has a citreon xsara Picasso diesel which needs a new cam sensor. he bought one, installed it but snapped a bit off it when he tried to start the car. has anybody on the oof have the know-how, or of a link on installing one. any help would much appreciated. :y

If it's the 2.0 litre hdi engine the cam sensor is really easy to get at,right on top of rocker cover at timing belt end with one 10mm spanner size bolt holding it in,difficult to see how anyone could struggle with replacement. ???

  when he put a new one in & bolted in situ on restart it chewed a bit off the new one. in fact its happened twice. the second being a second hand one. the car itself starts, tho runs in limp mode & sounds like a badgers bum

If it's the correct sensor its not adjustable so can't see how it could go so wrong unless it's being fitted without its O ring which may cause an issue,SCRUB THAT I'm wrong here :-[ see below :y

come to think  I'm sure that the genuine part has a little plastic cap on the end of the sensor to set the air gap,have a look at where the bolt fits through and see if the hole is elongated to allow movement of the sensor if it does allow movement your mate may have pushed it in too far
