turbo-lag is a wonderful thing - wind the miggy up ::)

I think top gear magazine did a survey of service costs and it was the most expensive car in the uk with the average service costing more than a grand!!! ALso he can have his 400bhp my genuine 377 and top speed will leave him smelling my fumes :o :o :o
-
Fast - yup
Thirsty - yup
Handle well - yup
High running costs - yup
Easier to run than an Evo - oh yes
Verdict - Scooby every time.

Nuff said?
We are talking about cars, not the drivers.
One of my friends drives a Legacy estate, she picked that because of the safety and security it provides. She likes these things as she carries her three young children.
How about an intellectual post tmx?

Well there was two Traffic Police in it & it was dressed up like a hedgehog. What caught my eye at first was the size of the rear tyres :o :o, i caught it up to have a good look & i sat behind it for a good few mins in traffic, followed it through the 30mph limit, but then whoooosh off it went 8-) I was in a 280zx at the time, which wasn't slow ;)

specifically the FQ 400, 0-60 in 3.4 seconds!
my mate's brother is selling a 52 plate scoob cos its too thirsty. i think i'd rather have a lotus carlton aswell if i'm honest
but i'm a big fan of the Legacy Outback

Agree with the thirsty bit, I filled one up in Leeds and caned it home to catch the Champions League final 2 years ago, took 1hr 12 mins to do the 90 miles, petrol light on 2 miles from home!!!!!!
Tight seats for a porker like me but a stunningly surefooted car, it was a 1994 import by the way.
-
Parts are expensive and very complicated to repair..
Mostly second hands are thrashed and very expensive to keep on the road!
And fuel price nearly reaching 1.5 £ here.. Bye bye racing..
-
I don't think anyone can deny the performance of these type of cars is stunning, however the looks are questionable and they stand out like a sore thumb so every bobby can spot them a mile off.
Why do subaru/mitsubishi make the cars so obvious to be picked on, just make them look ordinary with the great performance and they would be fine.
Just my useless 2p worth.

I would go for the Itchypussy Evo myself, much less Chavtastic ;D
-
Well, I had one. An '02 WRX with about 240 bhp. I no longer have it because I was doing 30k miles a year and the 50k service cost me £900.
I have driven every different car that I have had the opportunity to. That's lots. And the Scooby is the most precise, cohesive drive I have had. It is a true driver's car an puts all the others in to the shade.
The way that the steering, brakes, gearbox, clutch, power and handling all come together as a whole is difficult to put in to words.
BTW, I have not driven a Porsche or anything more exotic than that.
Yes, it now has a bit of a "Chav" image. But I would recommend anyone who enjoys driving and gets the chace to gather their own data. For me, the WRX is head and shoulders above anything else I have driven. The MV6 is a great car, but I would have another Scooby tomorrow if I could afford it.

If I wanted 4x4 and loadsa horsepower my option would be a mitsi VR4
V6 Quad cam twin turbo
4x4
4 wheel steering
etc
is an estate car and doesnt say look at me I wanna race
-
Lc for me and got to say in todays climate must be cheaper to run tax wise............and you get so much car
but do like the evo and others...........
-
The engines aren't strong enough, leading to fairly common massive repair bills. When they go, they're not slow, though most people I know who have/had one (fairly popular amongst IT contractors) didn't know how to drive them, so never too difficult to keep up.
Trouble is, I'm too old to look that much of a chav now....
-
theyre also intensely annoying the exhaust note is crap and as i said before the drivers think of them selves as colin mcrae because of the exhaust and they are not safe they score between 2 N Cap *s and 3 *s
who would want a £30 excessive noise ticket off the old bill every other week because theyre car is too noisy

Im with you on this one :y

Yep. VR4 is a rather nice bit of kit. Had a climb over one in Le Mans a few years back. Not being common as muck like the Scooby, and sounding like it's running on 6, rather than a 4 pot with a misfire make it much more appealing IMHO.

I hate the Subarus, much to tiring to use every day with that awful un-even exhaust note and over hard ride. Plus they look just plain awful!
They do have some very big reliability issues to!
I drove an ex-works Evo6 rally car on a mixed surface track once.....now that WAS impressive!

The interiors are hardly comfortable or nicely styled either....
So, assuming I were buying a car solely for performance and sod the comfort / reliability / expense / looks / practicality, the Subaru would be way down my list because on that score it comes up against some serious competition.

My friend`s Scooby 'Forrester' seems well sorted; not a single niggle, rattle or fault in 4 years from new, great ride quality and in normally aspirated-form the boxer is free-revving and torquey (been there on holiday once) ;D

would that be the Galant?? very wolf in sheeps clothing!
-
Very much so
-
In GT4 Sue kept chosing Subaru Imprezza in blue so I started chosing quickies like full works RX7s and Skylines ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think that's the point. The basic car is a pretty tough workhorse. It's just that bolting on a Turbo doesn't make them the ultimate performance car IMHO.

Most of the drivers wear caps as well, usually back to front.
