Having read this....

I am considering getting rid of the coolant and using 100% water plus water wetter.
My reasoning is that the Omega seems to run quite warm and it would be great to help reduce under bonnet temps.
Thoughts?

Not convinced IMHO, Anti Freeze is not just about antifreeze but gives all year round coolant and Engine protection.

Had completely forgotten the fact that it protects against freezing!
Scrub that idea then!

Look at the bottom of your kettle ;)
Anti-freeze is there to prevent freezing yes, but does other things like protect the engine. Water is a very destructive force, someone on here bought a 3.2 that had a failed oil cooler inside 52k miles :o
50/50 mix of Anti-freeze at all times of the year :y
What kind of temps are we talking here, what does the dash say? (what engine??) The V6's do appear to run hot, lots of heat comes off them, but as long as we are not talking near 100 or 100+
Temp should be maintained by the stat, if its running too hot you have a fault, that cannot be cured with colder water :)

That would be mine then. :-[ ;D ;D ;D. Actually 49,000 ;) Although mine was just old antifreeze never been changed by the seems of things. As said DON'T leave the antifreeze off :y :y you can get some other additives to take the place but they are no good at protecting against freezing

Antifreeze does two key things
1) Stops coolant freezing at low temperatures
2) Slows corrosion down.
the latter is key as its this that eats away at the alloys in the head and the cylinder head gasket

.. and, in any case, underbonnet temperature has nothing to do with the coolant. The thermostat regulates the temperature of the engine, so this will remain constant regardless of what you put in the cooling system. The underbonnet temperature is largely related to the heat coming off the engine and exhaust manifolds. Rest assured that GM will have tested this setup in hotter climates than ours so there should be no cause for concern.
That advert is pure snake oil. I say that despite not having attended a "graduate course in Boiling and Condensation". ::)
