I've broken my fair share of Clarke balljoint splitters (Clarke is mostly rebranded Sealey).
I find Sealey stuff generally "OK" but not great by a long shot.

As I`ve found out. In fairness the balljoint was a bit of a pig, used a high tensile bolt in place of the busted pin and even that bent before the joint split

Air hammer. Jobbed. :)
-
bit like the clarke hub puller from Machine mart I had - first use it split in half. reminded me yet again to avoid cheap tools
-
Trying to push a taper joint apart often does that to tools.
They need a knock to separate, which is why you can often do it with two hammers.
The way to use a splitter like that is to crank it up tight and use a hammer on the outside of the joint.
