hi all hope you can help every time im braking at speed it wont brake properly it pulls to the right fighting withh there is slight play on steering and o/s/f is wearing on outer edge over 60mph there is vibration also noticed there is a squeek with when turning corners thanks glenn :)

Wishbone bushes fubar, assuming the bolts are tight.
-
Had the same problems as described until new wishbones were fitted last week. Pulls up straight and steeering is more responsive now.
Hopefully new wishbones will restore your confidence in your car. Braking was a horrible experience, not just the pull to the right, but the feeling that the back end was out of shape too was awful.
If you're happy that the wishbone bolts are correctly tightened, the try new wishbones. :y
-
could it be a caliper sticking i do get a vibration over 60mph :)
-
If your car has done between 80-120k then you'll be needing new wishbones, regardless of what else might be wrong with it :y

Yep, vibration is another symptom, as the steering becomes much more sensitive to wheel balance when the bush is allowing too much movement. My car is currently doing the same (and perfect timing, as I've got a 1700 kg load to tow next weekend). ::)
-
Another vote for shagged wishbones.
I also had the same with new bushes, turned out it was the shite tyres I'd bought. So it can be other things in addition to wishabones.
-
had same problem camber all to cock and vibs were tyres.did camber put on new tyres all ok for last 2 years

Had a similar issue turned out to be a combination of things. Steering idler shot, tie rod end had play, air in the breaks, iffy discs and pads.
All sorted now and all's well ;)
Can't comment on wishbones haven't had one go on a Omega. :-\

Probably should have added in there (Thankfully Touch Wood) ::) :-X ;D
Although saying that it looks as if the 3.2 has had new front wishbones at some point there's no rust on them.

Mmmm. I have a judder too at 50-60 ish, and was putting it down to an alignment issue as I've had it back to the garage a couple of times. I poly bushed my wishbones last year, but wonder are they now responsible ......
Must check the bolts :y

trouble is--stiffen up one area--weaken another :-\ had same on rover--got whole suspension poly bushed-had to reinforce mounting areas :o

Bushes in the omega actually form part of the suspension set up. They contribute to the ride quality as well as the main purpose of controlling the wheel
position. It's a trade off manufacturers deal with.
Too firm a bush and the car will be accurate but very harsh for occupants. To soft and the ride will be comfy but a nightmare for the driver to control the car.
What we also noticed in fitting poly was that the firmer bush material transmitted wheel imbalance and break judder to the driver that was previously absorbed by the oe bushes.
It's not that the bushes are the cause, they can't cause judder. It's just that the connection between the driver and road wheels is more direct with poly. So you will feel faults that previously went un noticed.
Which is a good job IMO, as if there's a fault, I want to know about it personally. Especially with brake judder, as this is often caused by the wear line that develops on the outer edge of the discs inner face. :)
Poly can also highlight the fact most tyre fitters can't balance wheels to save thier lives.

The more I think about this the more I regret postiing about the bushes. I fitted them last year before having new tyres fitted. The car always veered left (as they do) and shuddered at speed so I tried to get the alignment, etc done. Although it was much better, the steering wheel was off centre. My wife took it back recently when I was at work, and watched the guy drive it up and down the road, etc. Wheel is almost straight, veering not so bad, and shuddering only at 50-60. It's going back next week all being well!
But my point is that none of the above has been affected by the bushes, except that as Chris says, it is maybe more noticeable.

If I had a brand new Omega I would poly it from the get go :y
