There is a huge fire in progress right now in Smethwick in the Midlands
West Mildands Fire Service area commander, said "it was the largest fire the West Midlands had experienced."

Immediately across the road is . . . . . . West Midland Fire Service training centre

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder
Not actually funny of course, but what a coincidence.

Plastic and paper, not a good combination.

Why would a chineese lantern cause the fire ? I mean I thought they where like a hot air baloon. The candle warms the air it rises. When candle is burnt out no more hot air it starts to fall. Surely by this time the fire in it is out.
May be a simplistic way of looking at it but I suspect there is more to this than they care to tell us.

every one is blaming the lantern think they shouldbe looking at the company myself,what if it had been a yob with a fag?the place would have still gone up.

Which is exactly why I don't read or watch the news, It's ALL scaremongering corporate media. They just make things up as they go along. >:(

All the same, I think that the bloody things should be banned anyway, just on the grounds of the litter that they cause!! >:(
Ironically Chinese lanterns are banned in parts of China!! :o :y

I can't imagine it would be hard to narrow down a wedding venue upwind of that lot within range of a Chinese lantern...
I hope they're well insured. ::)
I was at a wedding not a milling miles away, and I vaguely remember Chinese lanterns through the mists of too much home brew. ::) Turns out it was 20 miles away, and the night before, so not guilty. ;D
