Title: 2.2 EML light on cam sensor suspected
Post by: terry paget on 01 July 2013, 17:17:04
Y188NFA 2.2 petrol manual saloon
EML light (engine block) on again. Only sympton is hesitation when cold. two weeks ago this car was brought home to me by son Ben for MOT work. The light was on then. The MOT shop plugged in their Snap On code reader and it read cam sensor. He put the light out, it stayed out, and the car passed MOT. It has come on again. I know the 2.0 cars are sensitive to aged cam sensors. Is the 2.2 similar? Is the rule only use genuine Vx spare?

Waste of time just turning light off Terry, fault needs to be rectified, and yes genuine only

Indeed it needs replacing and dont be surprised if you get gearbox codes and other weirdness popping up as cam sensors are prone to doing that too

Thanks Gentlemen. I found in the past cheap cam sensors did not work but so called Genuine Siemens did. More recently I have found genuine Siemens do not work either.

Is the 2.2 sensor the same as the 2.0 sensor?

I don't think so, probably the one part I would only get from a dealer...about £73 on trade card I think
