Title: Brake Master Cylinder
Post by: Boiler Man on 02 July 2013, 09:50:54
Hi Guys

My older S Reg 2 ltr Dti has failed the mot on brake pedal travelling near to the floor and dropping as the engine idles.

I'm thinking master cylinder.

Could anyone tell me if the master cylinders are all the same, or do I need to look for one to my specific year/engine size?

Any advice would be very much appreciated. :y

Cheers Gary

I'd check the whole system for leaks first just to be sure.

I believe there are variations on the cylinders. They probably have the sizes cast into the side so look for one with the same markings.

Master cylinders have subtle differences, so get one from the same era car.

Obviously check the vac pipe from plenum to servo first for leaks.
