Not another tyre thread!! ::) ::) ::) ::)

Oh well, if you cannot beat them................

The day before yesterday I had a full set of Pirelli P7's fitted to my new beast.  The set I bought with the car were new, but were of dubious origin - not of a known brand to me - so as my policy is always to upgrade my tyres to full specification for continuous high speed running, I changed them. :D :D :D :y :y

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Not bottomless Opti exactly, but when it comes to safety money is irrelevant.  In fact I had new front discs with pads, and brake fluid put in the new car yesterday, with full adjustment of all to give me piece of mind and the best braking system I can obtain on a miggy.

It was heartening though to hear the garage guys talking about how good the car was; "so clean and tidy, like new", and it had a genuine GM exhaust system that was not that old.  Gave me a real buzz!! :D :D :D :D ;)

Had them fitted to my 2.6 CD manual........at £50 a corner.

I found them not as bad as their reputation suggests.

That is fine with me, as the blokes down at Tyreweb, the tyre and brake specialists I use, are excellent.  They have looked after me and my cars for about 12 years now, and have saved me money whenever possible.  Giving me great discounts, and recommending actions that reduce the money to be spent.  I know many of them by their Christian names, especially the long serving manager, and when they give me a quote they honour it no matter what happens thereafter.

I remember once the manager, Fred, gave me a quote for doing a job, but they actually spent 3x the time (about 3 hours) doing the work due to problems.  They still stuck to their quote of about £50! :y :y

So if they make a bit from selling some nearly new tyres, so be it :D :D :D ;) ;)

Well, you where advised! Sc3 would have given your more mileage, which was what you said you wanted.
(But no, he buys sc5 instead. An unproven tyre recommended by a member with no experience of it. Oh SIGH....  )

I won't have anything else. But I don't drive an omega, so maybe they just don't suit that particular car.
