Hi chaps
Car ( 1999 v6 2.5 manual) is starting poorly from time to time, in some cases refuses to start at all especially when hot. when starts first time in the day- rev counter goes for a split second up to 2000rpm when its nowhere near that figure. When refuses to start Cr.shaft sensor has from 16 to 32 k ohm resistance. than later will get to 0.6k ohm and will fire up straight away. BASICALLY DUFF CRANKSHAFT POS. SENSOR.
Met quite a few topics on this subjects. well I have a question on my own. My sensor is physically damaged and has no plastic bit with number on. Its oval plug type and on the side of the sensor it says Siemens. I am guessing its 90 492 061 sensor.
Everyone strongly suggests genuine replacement. Well where I am it seems they only supply pattern. But there is a catch - one company has listed HELLA 6PU 009 110-661 sensor as a direct replacement. IMO as Hella is a well known company with very good reputation - can it be counted as genuine? Or any other replacements possible like Lucas or VDO for that matter( seen listed on one website Lucas with replacement part number SEB1068)?

Read the codes first.
Really need to replace with genuine Vx crank sensor if c/s kaput.
Rising revs on start up - try cleaning ICV ;)

Engine does not rise revs on start-up - its false signal from sensor.happens only first time in the day. ... or when it refuses to start and than suddenly starts.
So do you mean that Hella sensor is worse quality than Opel/vauxhall/siemens?

only get opel part matey :y :y :y :y

Sorry misunderstood your post ;)

Thought they where either Siemens or Bosch? No?
-
Yes - original opel/vauxhall are made by Bosch or Siemens. I have the Siemens one. Can source Bosch easy, but Siemens seems to evade me... for now.
Other are pattern parts, even though made by reputable companies.

It's one or the other I thought?
But either way, nobody here with experience of crank sensor faults will ever recommend snything other than the genuine part. The place is awash with posts on failed pattern sensors. It's just not worth the risk.
Try Andyc on here. Recommended section. Parts man at a trade club dealers. He can send by mail order to you.

Only Hella stuff you see in UK seems to be lights and occasinaly relay.
Weren't Hella part of Lucas at one point? Which is worth avoiding at all costs.
Our experience of non genuine (even if badged Bosch or Siemens, but there are some fakes floating around) revolution sensors on OOF is that they either don't work, intermittent, or fail very early.
Worth PM'ing andyc to see if he will ship to Bulgaria.
