Title: Rear end vibration
Post by: John Gray on 13 July 2013, 11:46:15
Hi, just joined the forum.
Looks really helpful.
Can't see this problem already, so can anyone please help ?
When hot and pulling uphill at any speed sometimes a loud drumming starts under the
left rear seat.
Changed rear springs, diff. bushes, exhaust rubbers.
Can't see cracks in alloy wheels.
Stops on easing off the throttle.
Also seems to change to higher gear too soon, and something growls, but not all of the time.
Most of the time it runs quiet and smooth.
Several garages have looked at it and nothing external worn.
They just say wait for it to get worse, but it is annoying and uncomfortable.
Any ideas ?

Hiya The answer to your question, may take time and different deduction methods.
Have you looked to see if the spare wheel is secured and not moving? Noise are usually a pig to pin down .
   Good Luck!

Hi I had a simular problem . When I pulled up and pulled off sharp with some acceleration I had a vibration which was the gearbox at fault changed it and all was good . Mine was a automatic . Worth a try to see if noise comes from start off .

Exhaust?
The main silencers are under the rear seats. Might be touching body or blowing or blocked internally. :-\

You don't state what engine, 2.2 by any chance?

Check the exhaust is not to close to heat shield at the front  :y
