Title: Removing the under engine tray, easy to do?

Hi all,

Is the engine under tray easy to remove on a 2.5TD? I have not looked specifically yet but I wondered if it was just so bolts/screws that need to be removed and then the cover comes off.

Then refitting is the opposite of the removal? Is that fair to say?

Are there any tricks/tips for it or is a simple procedure?

Should be 4 bolts and gravity :y

Would think its the same as mine (2.2)estate which was a few think 8mm self tapping bolts around the edges not to sure how many as not all of mine were there,all came out ok not that hard a job.Only thing I would say is the tray is quite heavy if trying to hold it up with one hand while undoing the last few bolts resting it on a jack for support sure helps.

Yes, easy, although it's bigger than the V6, and, IIRC, has 6 retaining screws. I haven't had mine fitted for the last 2 years. ::) ::) ::)

More screws, and a damn sight heavier, but pretty obvious.

Mine never went back on ;D

Can't remember how many screws, but six or eight? I also admit to not having mine fitted, took it off to Helicoil my sump plug & never got round to re-fitting.

I have a new stat, no viscous fan, no undertray, and it doesn't overheat, even in this weather. Having said that, I should refit it.

Ive just removed it and it would have been 10 bolts but one was missing so it was 9 for me.

The sound proofing material was muddy so I removed that from the plastic tray and I am giving it a wash just because and then scraping the crap off the tray itself.

Gives a good view of the underside of the engine, looks very good under there so pleased

Nah, the TD is fine without it. And without the stupid bloody viscous.

**Note, the only thing I ever towed with my TD in warm weather was a crappy Omega estate with a 2/3rds engine **
