Title: Osram night breakers
Post by: PAULCDX on 30 July 2013, 22:45:41
Hi,

Does anybody rate the osram night breakers as an upgrade to the standard headlight bulbs on the Omega?   :D

Unfortunately I don't have HID's but I'd like some brighter headlights. Are they just a standard fit, no extra wiring involved etc?

Thanks in advance

Paul  :y

i'm awaiting delivery of 2 sets of the Ring H1 +120% jobbies.....    (for the jag)

found a place doing them on a 2fer offer.....    got 2 pairs for about £29....  as opposed to the £25 per set most places seem to be asking.

apparently,   replacing bulbs is a PITA in the X type....

oh joy.....

Nightbreakers are noticibly better, but seem to have a shorter life. I guess thats the compromise.

I suspect other brands are similar, sorry MaxV6 ;D

The night breakers in my Discovery have done 18 months + a year in the Merc that I had before it so not that bad :y

If its anything like my XJ, you have to take the headlights out (well definately the drivers side, I can just do bulbs on the passenger side in situ), and to do this you have to remove part of the undershield and remove front bumper - real PITA

No mate 1 set is £12  ;)
After having a look tonight i see there are 3 Bulbs each side A small one for the sidelight, Then the dipped headlight bulb. and then another that comes on when you select the main beam.. So therefore i take it you need to buy both of these sets below.

Is that correct  :-[ :-[ :-[

well,  i fitted the Ring +120% jobbies to the X type Jag on friday, prior to another trip to deepest darkest North wales, this weekend    gotta say, they're effing great....    huge improvement in both dipped and full beam , the jag's std NON HID lamps are utter pants....

it's now a match for the HIDs on my Mv6.

will report back on longevity when they fail......    ;)

Nice one Max, very interested in your findings  :)

Very tempted to put these in my Omega CD when the nights start drawing in  :y

Blimey :o

Seeing as GM always have universally shite headlights, and a HID'd Omega is no exception, the standard Jag ones must be really, really bad :o

I find the HID Omega lamps bloody good tbh.  The candles in the e39 are epically shite.

I have just changed the bulbs on my Insignia for the nightbreakers (as TB says VX dont seem to great on lights ) I got mine from Amazon I think they were £21 inc p+p
I am really impressed with the difference they make more so on main than dipped though

I agree with TB,I've owned many vauxhalls and yet to have decent dip lights on any of them,my Signums dip beam for a 140mph car is shocking, main beam is good and was on my mig as well.

you're not wrong.....  biblically effing awful on dipped beam.... merely barely passable on full beam,        on dip,   i could probably have seen more using an iphone flashlight app.   the new bulbs make a helluva difference....

In my experience they light up good but last very short, even the people who sold them to me admittet to them being rubbish  :P
Osram ultralife on the other hand have yet to break for me, had them for at least 2 years now
