Title: Changing RH exhaust manifold on a 2.5 estate
Post by: terry paget on 31 July 2013, 15:41:24
X84GND 2000 petrol 2.5 manual estate
FrankH described perfectly the sound my 2.5 makes these days. It began as a spitting when cold, now has developed into a growl.
Haynes makes changing the Rh exhaust manifold sound quite a job, involving removing the inlet manifold and flange, then some oil cooler and coolant pipes. Has anyone done it, and have they any tips?

Remove inlet manifold.
Unclip & remove rear coolant hosework
Remove expansion tank.
Remove airfilter box
Remove transfer pipe
Remove heatshields and disconnect front downpipe
Remove ex. manifold.

Thanks Rob. Beautifully succinct. Now I can face the job. Haynes frightened me.

The car is almost due for a cam belt change. It is tempting to do it at the same time. Is there any reason why this is a bad idea?
