Hello All!
I have owned my Omega for over a year now and am finally registering on here as it is getting to a point where either a lot of work is to be done...... or it will have to go.
My trusty steed is a facelift 2.2 CD Auto in the classic silver with lovely leather interior.
Not a police car as such, but original owner was a Chief Constable!
Having owned Carltons in the past, I came upon my Omega last June and was immediately impressed.
The day after buying it we took it on a 400 mile round trip to pick up uni-boy and filled the HUGE boot on the return journey!
Then soon got mid and rear exhaust pipes fitted to cure a blow (which didn't - see below!)
Sadly, finances have taken a plunge this year and no maintenance has been carried out AT ALL!
So - 15000 miles later, through snowy winter, on a daily 30 mile commute and having never failed to start I now find myself with a trusty friend who has been woefully neglected and needs help!
To summarise the current issues:
- spare wheel on the back as original tyre just got a puncture.
- aircon stopped working just before it got really hot!
- coolant light been on for a while.
- exhaust blow turns out to be sheared studs on the manifold - sounds like a spitfire on first start up but gets better when warm!
- both rear wheel arches now going rusty :-(
- gearbox clunky (thought it needed oil top up but it didn't so just living with it).
It pains me that I cannot afford much if any of the repairs but the car just keeps on going so keeping fingers crossed. Just got to 121000 miles so it should last a little longer...!
So - is this car worth anything on the open market?
I checked out scrap prices before the recent mot in case the worse happened but it went straight through!!
These really are brilliant cars, but with no money to repair it may just have to go soon.....
Sorry for all the waffle, HI to all, have enjoyed reading through the articles on here and learnt a lot.
Cheers!

Hi mate and welcome, i have just scrapped my 2l CD that i,ve had for over six years. It,s a shame but sometimes
it,s not worth throwing good dosh after bad. As you have an MOT it must be worth more than without.
Best of luck in whatever you do. :y
