Title: How i can adjust idle speed on Omega 99 MV6 with Opel Sanner can version ?
Post by: finnsepse on 06 August 2013, 19:52:07
Hi i have Omega MV6 year model 99 automatic , and idle speed is as low as 500rpm when looked car own rpm meter . So car start to move when i raise rpm something 800 rpm  what is near normal .
So is there method how i can raise idle speed to normal level / i have Opel Scanner Can .

What might cause that low idle speed / it is steady and otherwise good but low ?
Greetings Seppo .

Normal. Not adjustable, controlled by engine ECU

Shame you can't adjust on the omega.

You can adjust on a vectra v6 though, as I've done it already.

I think Artur who developed the opelscanner software, developed it around a vectra when initially released.

Why would you need to? It's rock steady at 500rpm whether in gear, neutral, A/C on, or winding the steering from lock to lock.

You need to drive a DBW Omega!  ;D ;D

No reason to adjust it. 450rpm is the correct value for a 2.5/3.0 Omega V6 with the A/C off.

If your's is uneven at idle, clean the ICV, breathers and throttle body, and check for intake leaks.

Thanks friends i had no idea that idle speed is so low and correct  :y

The reason why i think (then) that it was to low , sorry if i use wrong words / i try to explain in english and my home language is finnish /
all my automatic Opels try to go forvard when gear is D position and car is running idle speed and brake is off , but this car dont , when i raise little bit rpm car does try to move .
There must be something else matter ,wrong oil level in gearbox or some adjust it has travelled 200000km and all in driving is ok so gearbox works just as it should , only that missing is that it dont try to move in idle speed.

sounds like either low or old oil in gearbox, or an od filter.  Check the guides, it's an easy yet messy job :y

My Omega doesn't try to drive forward when idling. I see this as a good thing.

SWMBOs Golf does. It must add considerably to wasted fuel and heating of the transmission fluid  >:(

Autos should have creep (on a level surface), so check the fluid level.

GM say this box is sealed for life, but in reality, benefits from a 50-75k (miles) transmission oil change.

Idle speed on the V6s can be adjusted with Tech 2  ;)

I've always reduced mine as far as it will go without making the idle lumpy - usually around 450rpm.

It creeps, what it doesn't do is lurch forward when drive is selected and try to mow down pedestrians and street furniture.

It probably is owed an oil change though as it is on 168K & I don't imagine it has ever been done ::)
