Title: Radiator fan switches. TD
Post by: unlucky alf on 11 August 2013, 18:24:39
Ive got a spare radiator that i was going to fit that I bought off another OOFer quite a while ago, The thing is the replacement has 2 rad switches fitted on the right hand side of it, One at the top & one at the bottom whereas mine only has one at the top, Now normally I would just ignore the spare but the thing is the switch mounted on the replacement that fits my wiring (3 pin) is mounted at the bottom, The other switch on it only has 2 contacts, So obviously my questions are why does the replacement have two switches (one for an intercooler fan perhaps which my car dont have?) & should I move the switch with 3 pins like mine to the top position or what difference would it make if I just left it in situ on the bottom, Sorry if this is a bit long winded but hope you get what i'm trying to say :D.

Some have the combined switch (earlier models?), some have the 2 switches.

When you say "combined switch" combined with what exactly?, So do I leave the switch that matches mine mounted where it is at the bottom of the new rad whereas mine is mounted at the top, I'm also looking at fitting an intercooler fan sometime (if i can find one that aint seized!) so i could use the spare 2 pin switch for that?.
