Title: Differences between V6 and 2.0 diffs and propshafts
Post by: humbucker on 12 August 2013, 10:50:38
Hello, a quick question that I hope you can answer.

What differences are there between the rear diff of a V6 / four pot Omega, and are there any differences in the propshafts? I suppose what I'm getting it is 'are they interchangeable' e.g., can I fit a 2.0 propshaft to a V6 rear diff?

No 2.0 though, but I assume 2.2 would be the same.

v6 propshaft is bolt on to diff with M12 bolts
2.0 use M10 bolts
just need to replace front part of diff that's all

Sorry to hijack, but are the Omega Diffs quite robust?

I have a small Rover 800 Coupe project coming up and I shall need a RWD setup.  :y

They don't seem to cause many issues other than a leaking input shaft seal.

Sierra / Granada would be another option. Also absolutely bomb proof. Possibly a bit lighter, and easier to find an LSD. Also more options for finding weird ratios and  aftermarket bolt-in LSDs too.
